WIND ENERGY OVERVIEW

It is currently estimated that by 2050 wind energy could provide one-third of the world’s electricity needs. One of the greatest challenges to integrating large amounts of wind energy has to do with the inherent uncertainties of the wind. As with all weather-driven renewable fuels wind is variable, and the fundamental questions have to do with where, when, and in what quantity the wind is available. These are crucial questions that need to be addressed both before a project is built and after it becomes operational. Armed with this knowledge the most productive projects are built and — once they become operational — the best decisions are made to optimize wind energy.
